Being poor college students, we went to work on the happy hour menu with gusto, ordering almost half of the items that were priced from $1 to $5. We loved the trio bruschetta ($1), which had three different purees (tomato, olive, artichoke and cannellini bean) on crispy garlic crostinis and the pizza margherita ($3) was surprisingly large for only $3. Another good choice was the fried calamari skewers, which were lightly battered and fried to perfection and came with a spicy tomato and caper aoli.

For those who like cocktails, this is one of Boulder’s best deals for happy hour. My friend and I ordered martinis ($4), and they packed quite a punch. For those who prefer other cocktails, wine or beer (fat tire pints are $2!), Bacaro does not disappoint. In addition to the tapas, Bacaro offers very reasonably priced grilled entrées, wood-oven pizzas, and inventive pasta dishes. With your meal, you can choose from the selection of moderately priced Italian and California wines and end your meal with the richly flavorful but delicate tiramisu ($8). Bacaro also has a second floor bar where younger crowds flock for the drinks and hip setting.
